YEEEEHA - City Slickers

Judy had her doubts when first I read the DEATH sign, then found myself stepping in mud, and certainly when I could hardly pet the horse. But my friend Lynde pays attention, she voted yes she would ride the horse on facebook, because I said I would try anything once. Autumn was our guide and assured me that I was getting the easiest relaxed horse to ride. CHACHO!! She says, just put your foot in the stirrup and swing your leg up over the top and straddle that saddle. Ehem. ya think so? lol. I finally mounted that horse with the help of some stairs... and let the truth be heard. I was terrified beyond words.
Especially when that horse moved. We spent the first hour in the arena. As I had the guide walk me around with a rope, Judy is flying around the arena on Pegasus, kicking up sand like a champion cowgirl. I finally rode on my own. The second hour we did the trails, 4 of us (Autumn and Rebecca of Sunnybrook farm trotted along side) and a little dog. (see pics). I felt like True Grit. From Stilettos to Stirrups. Who knew? This was truly the Judy day. We went from the saddle to the dance floor for real 2-steppin line dancing fun. Yes we found cowboys and then we became one. Jim even put on the cowboy hat for this occasion. (well a couple of pics anyway). Lori recommended we never leave El Paso without stopping at the famous Chicos Tacos. But Jim still wanted to 2-step. It took our visit to get him to behave like a Texan after living here for 5 years. haha. On the Rickel scale this day ranked a 10. We could not be happier to have had this visit, and to meet Lori, Christine and Candy (Christines friend). Oh and all the friendly cowboys at Whiskey Dicks. Leaving El Paso today and heading to Carlsbad California to visit our good friend Robbie Ash.
The laugh meter is gonna blow!!

  5. I have to share Jimmy's (aka Slim) story. The man just below our Jimmy wearing the hat photo.
He sadly suffered a stroke while on horseback, and the fall partially paralyzed him. While he is somewhat restricted in a wheel chair, he still rides horses with the help of a special mount and teaches theraputic riding to physically challenged kids. He's planning a ride w/the kids next year from El Paso to San Antonio....wagons and all...he has my number!!!
What a beautiful man, with a beautifully chiseled face that screams Southwest...beautiful shot Julie...suitable for framing!

  6. I also have to add my 2 cents to...Julie "you FINALLY rode on your own"...FFS...that was within the hour of "the death sign", stepping in mud, and discomfort with petting the horse...and most importantly...1 experience in your life on a horse as a kid and getting tossed off almost immediately....YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!

Nancy....thank you..xxoo!! Julie indeed looks hot and like a natural on that horse... no sign of fear at all. I recommend it highly...everyone should have at least one horseback photo...and if fear is the only thing stopping anyone from trying it..remember I RUN from kiddy rides...no stable will intentionally put you on a horse that will be apt to do you harm...trust me...regardless of what you sign, they could easily be charged w/negligence and they WANT you to have a good experience so you'll return!!! Just sayin'!

Jimmy...you and Lori are SUCH an adorable couple...I LOVE you guys together...you blend in Texas just fine my dear friend...you clearly had a great time...KEEP DANCING FFS!!!!
P.S. ya know they do that sorta thang in Az. too!!! And you looked great in that hat...just imagine a GUYS hat (lol) and a decent pair of boots???? Possibilities are endless!!! Love you to peices!!
