We had loads of fun on this road trip. We would like to thank all those that followed our blog, over 100- 200 page views per day. Fantastic.
We had a blast. It is a relatively easy journey and the recipe is to have good company, good music, share the driving, be honest, laugh a whole lot and enjoy the country. Oh and always be prepared for long hauls between exits. Gas is essential at all times, lol.
Our special thanks to Anne, Jimmy and Robbie for sharing their homes, friends, family and town. We really had a great time with you guys. And Jimmy thanks for the Corvette I love it~! lol
What was in our car? Water, Coffee, Vitamin water, laptop, camera, video camera, cell phone, maps, gps, chex mix, nuts, potato chips, sour patch gummy worms, 30 or more CD's, cooler, luggage, and fun. In the trunk? Vodka, diet coke, wine, lemons and smokes. haha. Everything legal. We stopped at the Grand Canyon on our way home to contemplate our drive off. But lo and behold, Judy chickened out. Just like the kiddie ride at Disney.
The most rewarding part of this trip is -- it was a motivator and a reminder of whats important, who is important and to value every day we have on earth. Be proud to be American. It really changed our views on our own lives for the better.
Life does not get any longer so make sure you take a chance, embrace a friend, laugh always and stop every now and then to enjoy this beautiful country even if it is your own back yard. We will forever remember this experience.
Attached is a video of the "random road" which I shot out the window as we drove. Unfortunately I had some technical difficulties when we left so I only have mainly the Southwest footage. You can see what we saw along the way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEIlxzzUPCI
Not too happy with the video quality on this blog but I will put a HD video link here or try another format.

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! You made me laugh, you made me cry! I loved being on the road with you even if it was from my own kitchen table! And the biggest welcome home!
ReplyDeleteReflection: My initial feeling of the bond we share from our grammar school days has been confirmed and deepened.
ReplyDeleteHad I not experienced the magic wand that had recently allowed me to let go of years of bitterness and grudges, I would never have been as open to this adventure, certainly not to the magnitude it reached.
I agree with you Jules, everybody should take this trip once in their lives and logistically it really isn't that tough to do...we both agree that there was some divine intervention that put us together at the right time in our lives to have this experience be so deeply meaningful, honest, and totally beyond what we ever could have imagined. Anne, Jimmy, and Robbie, thanks again for the love, you all own a big peice of this!
I too thank our friends and followers for all of your encouragement, wishes for our safety, and great comments and FB interactions...really made the miles extra fun and go quickly!
Most of all Julie, you ARE salt of the earth and YOU KNOW WHY...lol!! Thank you for all of the tech lessons (you have the patience of a saint), your bravery at every turn is an inspiration...I will ride that damned Astro Orbiter one day...lol! Your humor, talent, intelligence, and kindness were in fact the key ingredients to the "over the top" success of this adventure. You truly have a beautiful spirit, and a friend for life...I love you and I thank you!
Now get in the car ffs...we're off to Vermont!!!
Judy, what beautiful sentiments. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed being with you and rekindling the friendships beyond expectations of any kind. You my dear gave me strength when I lost it and I took that home with me. This trip showed me that all things are possible and sometimes are as easy as making a choice. I love that we both walked away with a much needed part of each other. The future looks bright and I can see clearly now that Horseback riding needs to be my new hobby. lol. You are damn funny girl. Still waking up in the middle of the night cracking up. memorable moment "Is Judy driving you crazy yet?" lol. Ya gotta have a "travel dad" to tell you to "GET TO BED" lol. Vermont looks good in the future to me Judy. you betcha!
